Cookie Policy

This page explains what CasePilot stores in your browser. It is short, because there is not much.
What we do not do
We use no advertising cookies and no third-party analytics. There is no Google Analytics, no advertising pixel, and no third-party tracker on this site. Nobody is following you around the internet on our behalf, and we do not sell or share anything for advertising.
We do count one thing ourselves, on our own servers: how often each lawyer's profile is opened. It is described below. It stays here, it is not shared, and it cannot follow you anywhere.
What we store, and why
All of the following is strictly necessary to run the site, or is a preference you set yourself. None of it requires your consent, and none of it identifies you to anyone else.

The one thing you can turn off
Error reporting. If something breaks, we can send the technical details of the failure to Sentry, our error-monitoring provider, so we can find and fix it. This includes the page you were on and what the software was doing, with personal data scrubbed. It does not include page recording or session replay.
This is off unless you switch it on. You can change your mind at any time from the cookie settings link in the footer. Turning it off stops the reporting immediately.
We also record errors that happen on our own servers, without any identifier from your browser. That is not something a visitor can consent to on a server's behalf, and we rely on our legitimate interest in keeping the service working.
Counting profile views
Lawyers on CasePilot can see how many times their profile was opened. To tell repeat visits apart from new ones, we store a random number in your browser the first time a view of yours is counted, and record it with each view.
That number is generated at random. It is not derived from anything about you, it is not linked to your account — signing in does not change it — and it is written to one column in our own database and nowhere else. It tells us nothing about you, and nothing about any other site you visit. You can delete it by clearing your browser storage, and a new one is made the next time.
Views by our own staff, and by lawyers themselves, are not counted at all.
Third parties
Some pages load content from providers who may set their own cookies:
- Stripe, on payment pages, for fraud prevention and to process the payment. Necessary for the payment to work.
- Google Maps, where a law firm's office is shown on a map. The map loads only when you scroll to it.
How to control cookies
Your browser can block or delete anything stored by a site. If you block what we have marked as necessary, sign-in will stop working.
Changes
If we ever add something that tracks you, we will ask first, properly, and this page will say so before it happens.
