When a lawyer sees your contact details

Updated 5 Oct 2026 · 1 min read

It depends on whether you're sending a lawyer a booking request or an inquiry.

On this page

A booking request

Until the lawyer accepts, they see only your name, the subject and description of your case, the time and the consultation type. They see your email and phone number once they accept. Our database enforces this — it isn't just hidden on the page.

An inquiry

An inquiry exists so the lawyer can get back to you, so your name, email and phone number go to them with it — for some lawyers straight away, for others once they unlock the inquiry.

Who else may see them

If the lawyer works in a firm, an authorised colleague or practice manager may also handle your messages.

Tip

Only put in an inquiry what the lawyer needs to judge your case. More in What not to put in an inquiry.
