Choosing a lawyer
Updated 5 Oct 2026 · 2 min read
A lawyer's profile tells you most of what you need to know before a first meeting. Here's what to look at.
At the top of the profile
Under their name is a short summary: what the lawyer works on, their years in practice, what the first consultation costs, and how they meet you — in person, online or by phone.
In each section
- About — how they work, and who with.
- Practice areas — the areas and specialisations they cover.
- Pricing — the first consultation, their hourly rate and any packages.
- Qualifications — their education and professional qualifications.
- When and where or Office hours — when they're available, and where you'd meet.
- How a consultation works — what to expect at the meeting.
- FAQ and client Reviews.
Sections the lawyer hasn't filled in don't appear.
In the lawyer list
A lawyer's card shows their next available slots and, for some lawyers, how quickly they usually reply.
Tip
With reviews, look at where each one came from. Only a review from a consultation that really took place through CasePilot carries the verified mark. More in How we check reviews.
